One of the most interesting fields of study is that of the phenomena of near death experiences, or NDEs. Often strikingly similar to one another, the accounts of people who have had an NDE have several key characteristics. First, as the name implies, people usually have NDEs when they are clinically dead, or on the verge of it, but finally resuscitated. As a result, the recorded incidents of this happening often occur in a hospital or a similar setting. Another key characteristic of NDEs is that there is usually a light, usually white, which seems to beckon the person towards it. This theme is found throughout religious and cultural history. Also common to NDEs is an experience of the events of one’s life passing in your mind’s eye, or before you, in an instant, and an understanding of all of the triumphs and tragedies, and some kind of understanding, sometimes akin to a feeling of forgiveness, or wholeness, afterwards. NDEs have a lot to teach us about our minds, as well as what the experience of death may hold for us. Such an overwhelming amount of people from all walks of life have had these very similar NDEs, and this alone is a reason to think that they have something to show us that is species-wide, and perhaps holds the key to understanding the way we should approach the concept of death. NDEs involve astral projection, and it would follow that if one had practiced the ability to navigate the astral realm, then one would be able to more easily navigate the death experience. The analogs between NDEs and the basic ideas of astral projection are many, chief among them being that very often the patient who has an NDE can see their position in the hospital, in the bed, with the doctors or their family members all around. Patients who have NDEs often remember details of the situation as they saw it from out of their body, and can often provide information proving that they were somehow aware of what was going on in the room. There are also clarifying elements of an NDE, such as when a person who has had full or partial amnesia or dementia, and in their dying moments becomes lucid and interacts with family members, perhaps for the first time in years, before passing away. The experience also gives many the sense of having seen another side to existence, illuminating the sacred time remaining after this sublimating event. Experience astral projection risk free Sign up for Steve G.
Encountering What is Within

Both the Egyptian Book of the Dead and the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying describe the different stages that the soul passes through during the death process. These studies, however much literal value one gives them, are examples of a people trying to understand the death process and how we might be able to die in a way that allows our soul to move onto the realms it needs to, without hindrance.

One way to think about it is to try to be more conscious of your mind as you fall asleep, as you make that transition from waking, to the liminal or in-between state, to sleeping. Extending this awareness is a good exercise, and is aided by a simple technique such as counting your breaths in sets of four while descending through sleep. This can splice one form of consciousness from another, and the in-between states become much more apparent in the process.

This is all part of trying on and navigating this astral body, and exploring the inner and outer realities that can be accessed by it. The methods and techniques for astral projection and lucid dreaming are in many articles here and I encourage you to explore them. In doing so, we explore this part of us that we are so easily distracted from today, in our neon mazes and glowing screens, and turn our attention to what is within.

Many people who are learning to astral project report the experience of intense vibrations, in the form of sound as well as physical, bodily sensations. Often these vibrations signal the shift from physically-based consciousness to astral consciousness, and cause us to feel panic, or a sense of uncomfortable uncertainty about what is happening. It is important to realize that this most likely happens to everyone who tries astral projection, and becomes a more comfortable and understandable experience as time goes by. In this article, we will discuss a couple ways of working through the more difficult aspects of this stage, and seeing it as just another unknown we need to overcome, as happens often in life. The Law of Vibration According to many ancient systems as well as modern quantum physics, we know that everything moves, that everything is constantly in a state of vibration, and that there is nothing that has ever existed in nature which was in a state of stillness. Understanding how vibrations work and how we can use them to our advantage is enlightening, and especially in dealing with this stage of astral projection. If we understand that our body is always vibrating, and that when we reach the vibration stage of astral projection, we can allow ourselves to vibrate in sync, or in harmony with, the vibrations we are feeling all around and within us. We need to remember to allow our natural vibrations to shift to agree with the vibrations we feel, and to get more comfortable with this sensation. Mantras One useful tool is to have a mantra to say to oneself throughout the experience. Mantras are prayers and verses, usually spoken or repeated in the mind of the yogic or meditative practitioner. Mantras help to align our concentration to our breath, as well as our will. Some common mantras are “om mani padme om” (the jewel in the lotus) and “om asado ma sad gamaya” (from ignorance, lead me to truth). Keeping your mind focused on the present is easier when using a mantra, and also has a rhythmic, soothing effect on the mind and body. Binaural Beats Another useful tool is practicing going to sleep with binaural beats. These duo-tone vibrations can be found many places on the internet, and they can facilitate the shift from a waking, to a daydreaming, to a sleeping state, or from the beta to the theta frequency. Or they can work in other direction. The idea is that the two tones, heard on stereo headphones, create a third tone within your brain, which is the same as the frequency in Hz desired. Utilizing this practice has helped me to better understand the transition between states and some of the vibratory elements of those transitions. If we remember that everything is in a state of vibration, it is easier to feel comfortable with these transitions. Bodywork Another way is to practice feeling the course of energy through your body, through the different channels,...

The Law of Vibration

According to many ancient systems as well as modern quantum physics, we know that everything moves, that everything is constantly in a state of vibration, and that there is nothing that has ever existed in nature which was in a state of stillness. We need to remember to allow our natural vibrations to shift to agree with the vibrations we feel, and to get more comfortable with this sensation.

Mantras

One useful tool is to have a mantra to say to oneself throughout the experience.

Binaural Beats

Bodywork

Another way is to practice feeling the course of energy through your body, through the different channels, energy centers, chakras, and parts of your body. Many people suffer from rigidity in many parts of their body which make certain kinds of energy very uncomfortable, as it becomes damned up within. We can alleviate this by being aware of places in our body where we resist relaxation, sensation, stimulation, or experience of pleasure. There are many forms of body work such as yoga and tai chi which can help in this direction, as well as meditative practices focusing on relaxation and forms of massage.

Working with a stabilizing, grounding, vibratory force like a mantra is a powerful way to approach the vibration stage of astral projection, as are working with binaural beats, and doing energy work with the body. Nothing is denied anyone in their inner explorations, but at times there are things holding us back, and these may be for our benefit, in ways that we will come to understand in the future. Like as children or young adults we grew into our bodies, we will become more and more accustomed to the states encountered in astral projection by these and many other methods. All we need is mindfulness, courage, and direction.

Most of us have experienced it: you are in your bed, awake, but completely unable to move, terrified, seemingly for ages. You can see your surroundings but sometimes you can see other things as well, in a kind of half-dreaming, half-awake awareness of your body but no way to control it. This is called sleep paralysis. It affects many, some far worse than others, and it can be an obstacle to approaching the question of lucid dream practices. Yet, there are ways of understanding and overcoming this perfectly natural event. The brain during sleep paralysis is very similar to the brain while in REM sleep, and occurs either upon going to sleep or upon awakening, when the body is still paralyzed as in REM sleep, but the person is awake. Often the experience of sleep paralysis causes overwhelming fear, made all the more terrifying by the fact that one cannot move a muscle. Many cultures in the world have personified sleep paralysis as some kind of entity, malign and menacing, that sits on a person’s chest sometime during the course of sleep. In almost every language, the word for sleep paralysis usually means something akin to pressing on something, or “that which presses one down in sleep,” either a ghost, demon, or other creature. Experience astral projection risk free Sign up for Steve G. Sleep paralysis is lucid but with the sensation that something heavy and cold is sitting on one’s chest, or similarly restraining, with no ability to do anything about it. With lucid dreaming one gains the ability, after exploration and practice, to affect any change they want in their environment, to seek whatever they desire, and to learn from the experiences and bring them back to normal, waking life. One is coerced, dominating, oppressive. The other is self-induced, liberating, uplifting. Many of us experience lucid dreaming when we are going to sleep, or when we are waking from a dream, or re-entering a dream. These are also the times when many people experience sleep paralysis, an occurrence anyone would like the ability to overcome. The most important thing, as with every psychic event, is to try and understand why it is happening to us. Is there anything that has been bothering us, scaring us, stressing us? If we can try to divine some kind of cause for these experiences, we can neutralize them to a great degree, and deal with our problems more directly and viscerally. What We Can Do A way for a person who is suffering from regular bouts of sleep paralysis to begin to understand and overcome this obstacle is to practice, mindfully and patiently, various methods of basic lucid dreaming techniques.
How They Are Different

Sleep paralysis is kind of like the dark twin of lucid dreaming.

What We Can Do

A way for a person who is suffering from regular bouts of sleep paralysis to begin to understand and overcome this obstacle is to practice, mindfully and patiently, various methods of basic lucid dreaming techniques. These techniques allow us to grasp more awareness and control over our state when we are dreaming, and therefore to understand our waking lives and what issues are most important for us to embrace and resolve.

If we can get more into the habit of attaining degrees of lucidity while dreaming or daydreaming, it becomes possible to use the same mental skills accumulated through this practice in order to counter the occasional visitation of the darkness pressing down on us during sleep paralysis. If we remember that internal experiences always happen for a reason, then every time we try to understand them, we are looking into the mirror and trying to understand ourselves. Through practicing to dream lucidly, we gain a lever of control over nightmarish experiences, and have a place from which to bravely face them, learn from them what we must, and banish them. This brings an increased level of calm and a feeling of being more in control of things in one’s life, of more courage, and of more insight.

An increasing amount of people all over the world are having out of body experiences (OBEs), and the literature compiled by research foundations records a rich contemporary case-by-case account of these. OBEs can happen spontaneously, such as in moments of ecstasy or crisis, or deliberately, after meditative practice and applied technique. Our understanding of these mind states is growing exponentially every year, such as what is happening in the brain during them, how to induce them, and how to use them towards psychological and spiritual evolution. What is fascinating is that there have been millennia-old accounts of OBEs by mystics, prophets, and laypeople alike who have had experiences which, although they might have used different terminology to describe them than we do, are surely the same phenomenon we speak of today. Having this historical perspective is enriching and empowering. It enriches our lives by connecting them to the traditions of the past, and empowers us by seeing that as other people have had these experiences, we are part of a long tradition of people whose minds have allowed them to see beyond the pale of normal, physical reality. Mohammad’s Night Journey In Islam, there is a very important story about a night when the prophet Mohammad went on a fantastic journey, traveling a great distance over the Earth, and then to Heaven and back. In an experience which many interpret literally and some interpret as a vision, a white animal like a horse was given to him, and he traveled from Mecca to Jerusalem, where at the site of what is now the Dome of the Rock, he prayed and then traveled to heaven on the animal, through all of the seven heavens, eventually returning to Mecca, Earth, the same evening. It was on this journey through the successive heavens that God told him that Muslims should pray five times a day The Man Mentioned in 2 Corinthians In the New Testament of the Bible, 2 Corinthians 12:2-5, the writer speaks of a man who had gone up to the “third heaven,” or paradise, and saw and heard “inexpressible things, that no one is permitted to tell.” It states twice that it was not known if the man had done these things while in his body, or apart from it, and that only God could know that. This is a clear case of what many call an OBE. The Merkabah in Judaic Mysticism Based primarily on Ezekial’s vision of the Divine Chariot or merkabah, some Jewish mystics used this vision in order to induce a kind of prayerful, meditative inner state whereby they could ascend to the seven heavens, communing with beings and seeing great celestial visions. The merkabah is very similar to other ideas of astral and subtle bodies, as it means a chariot or vehicle. There are incredible accounts of the ‘ascents’ and ‘descents’ of these mystics, many of them Rabbis from the first millennia AD, and of the purification rites, methods, and incantations necessary to...

Mohammad’s Night Journey

In Islam, there is a very important story about a night when the prophet Mohammad went on a fantastic journey, traveling a great distance over the Earth, and then to Heaven and back. It was on this journey through the successive heavens that God told him that Muslims should pray five times a day

The Man Mentioned in 2 Corinthians

In the New Testament of the Bible, 2 Corinthians 12:2-5, the writer speaks of a man who had gone up to the “third heaven,” or paradise, and saw and heard “inexpressible things, that no one is permitted to tell.” It states twice that it was not known if the man had done these things while in his body, or apart from it, and that only God could know that. This is a clear case of what many call an OBE.

The Merkabah in Judaic Mysticism

Based primarily on Ezekial’s vision of the Divine Chariot or merkabah, some Jewish mystics used this vision in order to induce a kind of prayerful, meditative inner state whereby they could ascend to the seven heavens, communing with beings and seeing great celestial visions. The merkabah is very similar to other ideas of astral and subtle bodies, as it means a chariot or vehicle. There are incredible accounts of the ‘ascents’ and ‘descents’ of these mystics, many of them Rabbis from the first millennia AD, and of the purification rites, methods, and incantations necessary to navigate these divine realms. This mystical system is a powerful example of people using their minds and meditative states to access seemingly divine or celestial realms, drawing knowledge, wisdom, and secrets from them.

How We Can Learn From This History

These are only three instances to be found from some of the world’s major religions where a human being had what can best be called an out of body experience, of some sort. There are countless other examples, such as that of the ancient Egyptians, the Tibetan Buddhists, on up to the visions of William Blake and Emanuel Swedenborg. Having this sense of historical perspective tends to ground and contextualize our experiences, and enrich and empower us in our explorations of the mind and the astral.

As we have seen, the concept of out of body experiences or astral travel has been a part of the major world religions throughout the millennia, and the purpose has been to learn, to experience gnosis, to expand vision and awareness, inner and outer. We can do the same today, whenever we decide to begin the journey.

Disorientation

When we experience astral projection, there are some key problems that can arise. They mostly stem from disorientation, which may occur during, or after, the experience. Just as we may be thrown off by any new experience, initial experiences with the astral contain possibilities of the same. What we can speak clearly about is a very capable tool with which to prepare ourselves for these difficulties. The most straightforward way is to always begin our exploration of these mind states with a clear statement of intent.

A Statement of Intent- Your Protection in Times of Trouble

A statement of intent is important because it allows us to set forth clearly what our intentions are while investigating these terrains, as well as to align our will, psychological and spiritual, with the experience. Therefore, when we are confronted with the unexpected, we are emboldened with an anchor, a foundation stone, which is self-aware and deliberate.

This can be as simple as a mantra repeated while meditating before entering into your astral projection. It could be a single-sentence statement, a drawing, a glyph; anything which expresses your will in the experiment with clarity. It should be succinct and straightforward. This serves as a roadmap for the experience, and provides for a plan if your intentions or direction are questioned in your exploration of the astral plane.

Keeping an image or statuette which to you represents protection, safety, and purity of intention with you is a great defense as well. For a long time, I had a small statue depicting the Egyptian god Horus in his form as a hawk. This figure represented vision, security, and courage to me, and was a way of grounding the experience in an image if things became too stressful or disoriented.

Another crucial practice is to keep a journal of your experiences when astral projecting. Try to write all of your experiences in it so that you can reference them in the future. This makes it much easier to find help with problems you are having, as well as to understand and anticipate them in the future.

If you find yourself in a confused or disorientated state, just remember your statement of intent, and the symbols and images that you cherish for strength, be respectful, abide by the local customs, and exit the scenario as gracefully as possible. This is pretty similar to the way we must act when we encounter difficulty in any foreign place.

Be Brave and Keep Trying

Remember that everyone who has ever practiced astral projection has had unsettling experiences, and that there is nothing wrong with you, or necessarily your method, if you have them. After the experience, while recording the event in your journal, and in the following days, you will be able to assess what happened and what you can do to prevent something like it in the time to come.

As every human endeavor is susceptible to misapplication of resources, accident, and lack of preparation, so is astral projection. But this shouldn’t prohibit us from engaging in it any more than the possibility of choking should prohibit us from eating. There are vistas and clarifying experiences to be had in the astral plane which should excite each of us to approach it and seek the truth it contains.

Tips for the First-Time Astral Traveler

If you’ve taken the time to do some research into the art of astral projection, you’re getting closer to readying yourself to have your first out of body experience. The following tips should help you as you journey through the non-material realm:

You are not alone. You will encounter other beings and entities within the astral world. You needn’t be frightened of these entities, the vast majority of the encounters you have will be positive. You can choose the people that you meet in the astral world, so you needn’t worry about harmful entities.

You can re-enter the physical world at any time. The chances of you experiencing something negative within the astral realm are very slim – nonetheless you should know that if you ever feel overwhelmed by what you are experiencing, all you have to do get back to the material world is think about your physical self and your spirit will re-enter your body immediately.

Fear is the #1 thing preventing you from astral projecting. If you’re having repeated difficulties getting off the ground with astral projection, you might want to consider addressing any fears that you may be harboring. Even if you’re not consciously aware of it, fear can stop you from exiting your physical body and prevent you from having an astral projection.

Your physical body will be fine. As you adventure through the astral world, your body will remain in one place. No harm can come to your physical self as your spirit experiences transcendence, so you don’t have to worry about leaving your body “unguarded.”

Your First Journey through the Astral World

Astral travel for beginners can be an exciting and breathtaking cosmic frontier. When you learn how to astral project, you effectively trigger another aspect of your being – a deeper consciousness. You experience a form of spiritual wholeness that isn’t possible on earth; a person must travel into the astral realm to feel this form of transcendence. When you return to your body after your first journey through the astral world, you can expect to feel a change in the way you approach life.

Before you take this journey, you must realize that you can’t hold any expectations for your first time in the astral realm. No two people are likely to have similar experiences in such a vast and infinitely consuming plane of existence. Although you may experience similar sensations tied to the metaphysical experience of leaving your body, it is your own spiritual essence that drives your journey through the astral world. As such, the people and situations encountered will vary from person to person.

In the process of learning how to astral project, nothing is more important than educating yourself and employing the right tactics. With a well-informed perspective, you’ll be able to overcome any lingering fears you may have and step into the astral realm with ease.

As we enter the twenty-first century, with all its overwhelming confusion, stresses and disheartening material disappointments, it has come as no great surprise to learned people around the world that more and more people are looking inwards and turning to ancient spiritual practices with which to make order of their lives. We all sense a feeling of imbalance, of disconnection between body, mind and spirit, and as such, many of us are taking positive steps towards discovering what is possible with our other, etheric and astral forms. If you are reading this, the chances are you are just beginning your journey of self-discovery, and are relatively new to the world and concept of astral projection. Don’t worry, you’re in safe hands, and have a wealth of knowledge, which stretches back thousands of years and has survived the rise and fall of empires and civilizations at your disposal! However, in all likelihood, your mind is riddled with questions and doubts. This is completely normal and natural – after all, you’ve spent your entire life inside this physical, material realm, and the idea that one can leave your physical body with the power of the mind seems almost absurd. However, that is the essence of astral projection; a practice which has been enjoyed by millions which involves simply allowing your eager spirit to guide you through a non-concrete realm, a metaphysical world known as the astral plane. All preconceptions of what is ‘real’ can be quickly left behind once the doors to another, higher realm are opened by your own will, and can be revisited any time you wish. Perfect Questions, Perfect Answers The very fact that you are asking questions is a highly positive sign that you are ready to begin exploring the possibilities that astral projection can provide. Those who don’t have a naturally enquiring mind often find it difficult to find the willpower and visualizations necessary for a complete projection, and thanks to the vast amounts of knowledge, witness reports and true life testimonies which are available, almost any question can be answered satisfactorily. What can one see in the astral plane? What does the astral traveller do there? What types of people or beings can one come across? All of these questions are regular asked by the novice traveller, and whilst other astral travellers are often willing to share their experiences, nobody who has encountered the astral plane will tell you what you will encounter there. The reason for this is simple. We are all different people with vastly different souls and personal experiences, and as such, we all carry a different ‘astral passport‘. As such, a question such as ‘What can one do in the astral plane’ is something, which nobody can accurately tell...

The very fact that you are asking questions is a highly positive sign that you are ready to begin exploring the possibilities that astral projection can provide.

As such, a question such as ‘What can one do in the astral plane’ is something, which nobody can accurately tell to another human being, especially one who is attached to the material world and the material senses, which we use here. When you make the conscious effort and decision to leave your tangible body behind, and travel through the astral plane as a transcendental spirit, you will quickly realize that there is no justifiable way that you could describe your encounters and experiences to the uninitiated. It becomes immediately apparent that the very language we use in the material world relies on our material senses, and as such, could never do justice to what you see and feel outside of the material world.

What is the Astral Plane?

So, just what is the astral plane? We often hear talk about the astral body, astral travel and worlds in popular culture, song lyrics, fantasy films and general esoteria, and as such, many people have possibly been slightly put off by the impression it is just another fanciful piece of New Age nonsense. A little bit of delving and research will quickly reveal that this simply isn’t the case, and that the astral body and astral planes have been discussed and researched by some of history’s greatest minds, deepest thinkers and most inspirational characters for several thousand years. Indeed, the founders of modern thought and philosophy, Plato and Aristotle, regularly referred to the astral plane as a justification of all that they saw around them. Most of Plato’s strongest theories were based on his belief that for everything we see and encounter in the material world, there is another, stronger, perfect and incorruptible version which exists just beyond the realm of our perception, made from his ‘fifth’ element, and evident to all people, everywhere. Both Plato and Aristotle received thousands of questions from hordes of people in the forums of ancient Greece on these subjects, which made people begin to truly question what it was their spirit or soul was really constructed from, and where their spirit or soul resided, and what the connection was between body, mind and spirit. The most satisfying conclusion at the time was that another plane of existence had to exist where everything was liberated and perfect, and that our imperfect and limited realm was something of an inaccurate copy, a warped reflection.

Astral Travel in Indian Philosophy

However, it wasn’t simply the philosophers of Greece and the Classical world whose minds were tuning in to the existence of the Astral Plane. All over the globe, wherever great civilizations rose in harmony with their surroundings, there was mention and thought regarding a world, which exists alongside the one which we see and feel, hear, touch and smell. It isn’t difficult to understand why – once religion or society is formed and is in a mode of relatively safety and calm, the human mind is always going to look around itself and consider unanswered questions regarding our reality and perception of reality. If there is one country, which is synonymous with soul-searching, philosophy and an understanding of the human spirit, it is India. As such, it comes as no surprise to see that belief in the astral plane and regular contact with the astral and transcendental body is a key and fundamental aspect of not just Indian religious practices, but of Indian daily life!

It is a highly important concept within all branches of Hinduism to recognize that this material world we live in is nothing more than Maya, or illusion. Such concepts can be found in Holy Scriptures such as the Vedas and the Mahabharata, which are thought to be some of the oldest and most important texts in the world, which offer exclusive and accurate information regarding finding personal peace, balance and liberation from material existence. According to ancient and respected Indian holy men, not only is this world nothing more than a plane of shadows, limitations and illusions, but our physical bodies are nothing more than vessels in which our ‘real’ everlasting and perfect form resides for a period of time – a shell or physical home for our astral bodies. In all Asian subcontinental religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and more, the astral plane is written about extensively as a real and existing place we are able to travel to and reside within. This plane of spiritual existence has been encountered through meditation by millions upon millions of travellers over millennia, and many of them offered their experiences through the medium of religious texts, songs and mantras. All of them unanimously agree that this astral plane of being is somewhere perfect, free from limitation, impenetrable to pain or suffering, and bathed in peace and tranquility – exactly the types of descriptions an astral traveller of the twenty-first century would give you, were you to ask.

Life in the Astral Plane

The astral plane is nothing short of a brave new world, a shining and perfect new frontier awaiting your exploration, any time you choose to visit it. As many testimonies show, astral travellers find the transition between the tangible and transcendental planes easier and easier as they continue to practice and explore going there, and quickly come to the realization that their astral bodies and spirits had, for all their lives, craved release, and desired to find liberation from their restrictive material bodies. Once we come to understand that astral travel is something that an important component of our bodies longs to do, needs to do, then the practice itself grows simpler and more natural.

Any astral traveller will be quick to tell you that when you begin your journey into the astral plane, you can’t carry any expectations with you. Openness is your greatest gift along the way, and at least for the first times, you simply cannot use your experiences in the material world as any sort of point of reference for the astral plane. When you do eventually find yourself liberated from your material form, you may indeed find yourself in a familiar time or place, somewhere, which closely resembles all that you, previously knew. Conversely, you may well find yourself somewhere completely new, utterly unfamiliar, and somewhere in which the rules you came to take for granted were merely illusion, and hold no dominion over your astral body. The astral world regularly surprises and shocks, and provides experiences, sights and sensations, which are far beyond anything you could previously imagine. Once we let go of our physical bodies, we must also immediately let go of the physical world they were born within – the astral world is something quite different, and endlessly unlimited. The restrictions of material reality become distant memories; you’ll grow surprised that you ever had so much faith in them. Furthermore, as your essence, your thoughts, feelings and accumulated experience (that is, what makes you who are really are) will have free reign to act as your guide, your navigator and driver. It is this which makes astral travel and the astral plane itself something truly individual, personal and deeply special and profound.

The limitless possibilities of travel into the astral realm become immediately apparent to each and every person who finds themselves there. It isn’t unusual to encounter people and situations, places and happening from past, present and future – often combined in seemingly impossible myriad ways which defy our previous understanding of time, cause and effect. Not only this, but you may come across people and places which you would never encounter in the material world, and you will find that distance and the passing of time become mere illusions, yet more things which fade into insignificance and can be manipulated easily and effortless by your will. For many people, venturing into this new realm without limitations and in which literally anything is possible can be somewhat frightening. This is perfectly understandable and normal, and the realization that the world in which we have lived and struggled and suffered as a result of the restrictions and difficulties, which fill it, are merely illusion can be deeply shocking. However, as with all things, practice and patience bring about perfection, and before long, your comfort in the astral realm will greatly increase. You’ll begin to gain a greater understanding of your existence, the meaning of your life and your place within these ever expanding universes and planes that we inhabit. Every time you astral project and encounter the astral realm, such understanding and revelations will increase, and you’ll find the transition grow more comfortable, and your knowledge of how to navigate this world will come naturally and beautifully.

Discovering the Astral World

Although it isn’t possible to carry expectations with you when you first begin to explore the astral realm, you are perfectly able to (and entitled to) immediately begin seeking answers to the questions, which gnaw at the soul of every sensitive person who feels frustrated by the material world they inhabit. Indeed, by focusing on various queries and problems you would like to resolve whilst preparing to exit your physical body and release your astral form, you can allow these questions to come to the fore of your subconscious. This will become a driving force within your astral form, and you will find yourself exploring such questions once liberated from this plane of existence. The astral plane is the most complete and excellent source of knowledge, information and answers regarding the material world, and access to this knowledge is as unlimited as anything else you encounter there. As such, any astral traveller will tell you that the absolute highlight of their explorations into the astral world is the ability to develop clarity of understanding and a greater sense of empathy in regards to the tangible world. You can quickly and easily find either the answers to your questions, or more commonly, gain a sense of perspective and enlightenment, which renders your worries and fears insignificant. As your adventures into this personal realm of endless beauty, freedom and opportunity continue, you can delve ever deeper, seek more profound answers and realization, and experience the full wealth of being that enlightenment brings.

What is an Out of Body Experience?

Out of body experiences have received a huge amount of public attention over the past few decades, and this can hardly surprise us. As the material world in which we spend most of our time living becomes increasing materialistic, frustrating and dull, people naturally turn to seek some sort of alternative in any way that they can. This is partly the reason for the recent explosion of interest and enthusiasm for all manner of activities and information regarding astral travel, OBEs and all sorts of connected practices – people have grown frustrated with this realm, and cannot help but feel there is something higher, something more profound which they have been encouraged to ignore their whole lives. When you spend just a moment to think about this life, and these bodies in which we live our lives, it seems glaringly obvious that there must be something more, something we have been missing. Who are you really? Are we simply these bodies, with their imperfections and their limitations? Why do we dream? What happens when these bodies eventually die? In actual fact, it is incredibly difficult and more than a little ignorant to refuse the existence of the astral or ethereal body, as part of us at least suspects that there simply must be more to us than flesh and bone, and there simply must be more to life than spending each day living in the material world.

Whilst you can look to the thousands of personal testimonies of out of body experiences which can be easily found online or in your local library in one of hundreds of compendiums of such things, you won’t necessarily find anything which could accurately describe what you may find or benefit from having an OBE yourself. What you may find, however, are the answers to many of the obvious questions that arise regarding these practices, and the doubts, which newcomers cannot help, but hold in their minds. Look back through human history, however, and you’ll quickly find that out of body experiences have had an enormous impact on almost every culture and civilization, which has come before ours. In the East, and particularly in India, there are writings which refer to speeches and lessons given thousands of years ago which instruct us to see our material bodies as mere shells, simple vessels for a more complex, spirit-soul which can and will free itself whenever possible. Such ideas led to a culture and a set of religions which encourages every man, woman and child to spend time each day meditating on separation of body, spirit and mind for increased inner peace and balance, and to see the material world as nothing more than illusion. The Vedas and other holy texts are full of people who travelled great distances in their astral bodies, saw wonderful and impossible things, and reported back to their people of the insignificance of the world in which we live.

Near Death Experiences

Possibly the most convincing argument for the existence of out of body experiences happens very regularly, and indeed, many of us know somebody who has encountered a vivid OBE in their lifetime. Put quite simply, OBEs occur naturally in moments of great physical or emotional trauma, or during moments when physical death seems to be imminent, but does not occur. These ‘near death experiences’ have penetrated cultural consciousness in a big way, and we are all aware of more or less what they entail. It seems the vast amount of people who have had near death experiences have experienced some kind of out of body experience alongside it; being bathed in a protective light, seeing themselves move away from their material body, upwards and outwards, occasionally towards some kind of tunnel or light source. This sensation of movement away from the tangible world is always associated with a feeling of utmost blissfulness, relaxation, often utter joy. The absence of fear or pain is particularly notable, and alongside a feeling that everything will be just fine, or the sense that all of your questions about life are about to be answered makes this experiences particularly profound and often completely life-changing for the individual on their return to the waking world.

However, speak to any astral traveller or one who regularly undergoes out of body experience through willpower and concentration, and they will tell you that all of these various factors we read about or hear about are simply part of the process of allowing your astral body to exit your material form. Even those details about near death experience which seem slightly odd or uncomfortable, such as having deceased friends and relatives around you, or revisiting times and places from your personal past, are regularly encountered on the astral plane by those who wish to visit it, and greatly enjoyable, life-affirming and relaxing. Simply put, out of body experiences are manifestations of the spirit or ethereal body outside of the material world. They occur naturally under certain circumstances, but you do not have to be suffering or dying in order to encounter them, learn from them or enjoy them. As you are reading these things, the likelihood is that you are new to these phenomena and are curious or anxious to experience them for yourself. Rest assured in the knowledge that nobody is incapable of having an out of body experience, that they are completely natural and an important way of recognizing other, real and vital parts of your existence. Although it can take some patience and training, OBEs or astral projections are there for you to enjoy and explore, and the astral realm is always waiting for your return.

What Happens When You Leave Your Body?

When you have an out of body experience, you are not only freed from your material body, but the entire material realm. You become weightless, and find your body free from any of the pain or frustration it suffered with whilst you were in your waking life. This is the nature of the astral realm we go to when having an OBE; limitless, beautiful, incorruptible. You will feel utterly at peace with yourself and your surroundings, and you will find that nothing is impossible, nothing your senses relied upon in the material world are necessary in the astral realm, and willpower, concentration and inner drive are all you need to summon yourself from one place or time to another, to visit times, situations and people from your past or your future, or to go to places far beyond your previous imagination or imposed limitations. You can be everywhere and nowhere, all things or nothing.

In actual fact, it is incredibly difficult to describe anything of the astral realm to somebody who hasn’t been there via their own choice and effort, as the truth is preconceptions are utterly useless when one considers that this realm which we can escape to is so deeply personalized and individual. However, what all people do find, and the reason why so many people all over the world have spent millennia concentrating and meditating on reaching the astral realm, is that all things are possible, and all questions are immediately and profoundly answerable. The mysteries of life unravel before you, reveal themselves to be mere illusions and misconceptions. The material world seems very small, very imperfect, and very far away in comparison to the astral plane. Such experiences in the astral realm can make troublesome lives fall into place, and the life you have lived up until that point can indeed be made sense of. The possibilities for personal and spiritual growth within the astral realm are limitless, and regular visits will quickly dispel any preconceptions, any fear or hesitation, until you are truly comfortable in this space you have every entitlement to be in, enjoy and learn from.

Although it may sound utterly impossible to you now, the process of initiating a controlled OBE is simple and can be accomplished by anybody who is willing to put the time in to learn. Try the following alarm clock technique to initiate an OBE the next time it’s convenient for you.

Note: The following OBE-induction technique needs to be done after a full six hours of sleep, ideally in the wee hours of the morning. Start by setting your alarm clock for exactly six hours from the time you lay down to sleep. Plan to stay fully awake for an hour. Once you’ve been up for exactly one hour, lay back down. Follow these five steps and get ready to have an out of body experience!

Step 1: Relaxation

You may already be relaxed, since you’ve woken up from a sleep state. But in the case that you’re not, consciously focus on relaxing each part of your body, starting from your toes and moving to your forehead. It can help to practice a little self-hypnosis in regards to this, slowly counting down from ten and focusing on each individual part of your body, willing it to become completely relaxed and comfortable.

Step 2: Focus on your Third Eye

Your body contains a chakra center, filled with potent energy, in the middle of your forehead. By consciously focusing your attention on your third eye you can awaken your intuition to guide you through your OBE. Your willpower is your greatest tool, and visualisations will come far more easily if you find a way to exercise your forehead chakra.

Step 3: Vibrational Pulsing

Start to feel the vibrations underlying your sense of stillness. These energies are very subtle, so a good way to begin is by tuning in to your heartbeat and imagining waves of vibration flowing in time with your pulse.

Step 4: Visualization

Bring your attention to any images, colors or videos you might be seeing with your eyes closed. It’s at this point that a lot of people fall asleep, but if you can stay conscious at this point, you’re almost ready to project yourself out of your body.

Step 5: Floating

The only thing left to do now is wait until you feel yourself begin to float up and out of your body. When you leave your body, you may experience a number of physical sensations, but they will subside. Before long, you’ll find yourself beginning to exit your physical body – concentrate on this sensation, and will it to be so. There should be some feeling of pressure to keep you attached to the material realm, but fight against it in repeating waves until you are freed completely and are able to move independently.

Out of body experiences can provide you with an enlightening glimpse into your existence, answer many or all of the questions which have plagued the consciousness of mankind since the beginnings of spiritual thought. We can awaken ourselves very simply and easily, however, the enemy of spiritual awakening is frustration. If you continue to fail to feel any progress being made in your attempts to have an OBE, do not allow yourself to become angry or frustrated – this can easily form a blockage in your chakras, and forge a greater connection with the material world and a fear or negative feeling towards the astral plane. Simply research some other effective techniques, and begin to experiment with one or more of them until you find a pattern and a method, which suits you and your needs. As mentioned before, there is nobody alive or dead without an astral body, and there is no reason other than your own frustration or attachment that would stop you from projecting.

For millennia, people have been using the wisdom of older civilizations and peoples in order to find ways of balancing and harmonizing different aspects of the human body and soul. In ancient India and elsewhere in the East, this has mainly involved meditative practices that slowly but surely confirm the reality that we are ultimately so much more than simply bodies roaming the material world, and that we are in fact everlasting spirit-souls, trapped inside tangible bodies. The ancient Greeks were perhaps the first people to recognize the existence of the astral body and astral plane, the subtle, ethereal body which we are all born with and the limitless, perfect world from where they came. In today’s modern world, we are seeing people strive to reconnect with lost knowledge and awareness, and explore the possibilities that the astral realm can provide, the questions it can answer and the peace and tranquility it can give to us. Through astral projection, we can do nothing short of explore a new realm of consciousness, an unlimited plane where time, space and our material senses can be overcome through directing the will, and allowing the spirit to take the driver’s seat. What Are Astral Projections And Out Of Body Experiences? When we astral project, we leave our physical body behind in the physical world where we spend most of our time. In many ways, there is little difference between an astral projection and an out of body experience (OBE). However, OBEs are most commonly documented as occurring naturally to normal people during traumatic experiences, and are associated with somebody leaving their physical body under extreme distress, pain or shock. Car accidents, heart attacks, surgery, strong emotional events such as bereavement or childbirth have all had out of body experiences associated with them as moments when the physical body cannot take any more distress and the ethereal body decides to escape for a while. In these moments – particularly near death experiences – the individual retreats to a realm where the body cannot experience any sort of pain or suffering, and floats freely in a comfortable, tranquil and quiet space where they are given as much time as they need to reflect, learn and begin the recovery process. However, rarely are these sort of out of body experiences the result of any consciously willful effort or practice, they are a naturally occurring phenomenon, which, despite often having a profound effect on the individual, generally come as a surprise. As such, we can differentiate between OBEs and astral projection by claiming that when one astral projects, they are making a conscious effort to do so; they are willing their ethereal body to exit their material one through utilizing certain techniques or methods, and as such have a carefully controlled experience in which they can receive the pleasures and cosmic wisdom which they have prepared themselves for.

The astral realm is a plane of existence which is as real as the one we spend most of our time living in, except it differs greatly in regards to what is possible there, and what one can gain and learn from it. By willfully entering the astral realm, you are making a positive step towards bringing a powerful sense of calm and understanding to your life, an opportunity to grow and learn unlike any other. It comes as no surprise to learn that many novices to the world of astral travel have deep and significant reservations regarding leaving their physical body behind in the material world, and rightly so. However, spend some time speaking to other astral travellers and reading true-life testimonies from experienced travellers, and it will soon become apparent that no matter how many times you visit the astral world (and you are free to visit it as often as you want), you will always return to your body after some period of time. The reasons for this are many, and may have something to do with the fact that whilst we live in the physical plane, our astral bodies require our physical ones to remain healthy, and rely on them being harmonious in order to continue. Also, throughout our lives we build up a very strong attachment to the tangible world. We have loved ones, emotional ties and even possessions that we are deeply attached to. Such attachment is both a positive and negative thing; whilst it eases our return to this world after astral travelling, it can also make it difficult to leave in the first place. Of course, it is perfectly natural to be concerned about leaving your physical body behind, and it is also natural to be a little concerned or even fearful about the sensations your physical body will encounter as your astral body emerges and once it leaves. A ton of useful astral projection information is available to you now Find out by signing up for Steve G.
Your Physical Body Versus Your Astral Body: What’s The Difference?

Dr. Ehrsson conducting an out-of-body experiment

Your physical self is made up of tangible matter. Although it houses a vast amount of energy, and is capable of many wonderful things, the human body as it is within the material world is completely subject to the limitations of physics. In our normal waking lives, we are unable to defy the laws of gravity and motion. We are unable to move through physical objects, or bend the laws of space and time. We perceive time as a linear thing, subject to the balance of cause and effect, with one event occurring after another, and effected by that which precedes it. We are unable to fly, or float weightlessly at will. We are impossibly limited in what we can do within the material world, and furthermore, our physical bodies are weak, open to the sensations of pain and suffering, accidents, diseases and all sorts of corrupting influences. As a result of these various factors, astral travel can be one of the most rewarding and liberating experiences, with limitless possibilities and an entire new set of rules in place to explore and enjoy. Unlike your physical self, the astral body is not tangible. As such, the astral body is unattached to the normal bodily sensations which we experience every day. For the astral body, pain does not exist. Suffering is not possible, and the rules of the material plane quickly fade into insignificance, with everything you previously believed about gravity, time and so much more being proven irrelevant on the astral plane. The astral body is an expression of your essence, your higher self. It is composed of potent cosmic energy, the material which binds the universe in harmony, and this energy can be directed using the power of will and spiritual concentration alone. The astral body is a projection, a vessel in which you can travel freely within the astral realm of the universe. For those seeking to learn how to astral project, it is extremely important to educate yourself prior to initiating an out-of-body experience. In order to ensure that your first experience is comfortable and successful, you should be aware of all of the potential physical sensations that you may experience as you leave your body, as these strange sensations can cause a slight fear or nervousness which will block your astral form, increase attachment to the material world, and cause frustration and failure to release.

Listen to Steve Jones talking about his fist astral projection experience

What Happens To Your Body When You Astral Project?

First and foremost, you have absolutely nothing to fear when your astral body leaves your material form behind, and begins its exploration of the astral plane. However, as a new experience and a new set of sensations and physical reactions, astral projection can occasionally bring you out of your comfort zone and cause some people to tense, panic and thus fail to release their astral form. When you have experienced the removal of the astral body from the physical self several times, and have had time to reflect upon the process, you will begin to feel totally at ease when it comes to undertaking astral projection. Indeed, after some time enjoying the full liberation of soul and mind that astral projection brings, you’ll wonder what it was you were uncomfortable with in the first place!

For the vast majority of newcomers to astral projection, the process and experience of leaving your physical body behind as your astral form enters the metaphysical plane can be uncomfortable when first attempted or encountered. Even the thought is slightly frightening, and conjures up all sorts of uncomfortable questions regarding losing oneself in the astral plane, or even thoughts about something else entering your physical body whilst you are travelling. However, these thoughts and sensations do not – by any means – equate to astral projection being unsafe. Many people experience some discomfort and panic at the vibrations which are passing through the body, and at the sensation of rising away from the physical form, but the only real reason for this fear is the fact that you have probably never knowingly come across these sensations before. Astral projection can be an entirely new experience, which comes with an entirely new set of feelings, and motions, sensations and visions, and the body sometimes reacts in shock to this.If we think back over our life, and in particular to our childhood, there have been several moments in which we are undergoing a learning curve, and have to face brand new sensations, which sometimes overwhelm us, sometimes frighten us. The first time we ride a bicycle is a perfect and fitting example; initially, we may be frightened by the sensation of wind rushing into our face, or feeling unstable being carried on two wobbly wheels. However, after a couple of tries, the feeling becomes natural, enjoyable, liberating.

Important Points To Bear In Mind

It is vitally important to bear in mind and tell yourself over and over again that you have nothing to worry about in the astral world. Your physical body can come to no harm in the material world even as you leave it behind, and if a situation arises in which your physical body could come to some harm while you travel, your survival instinct will immediately snap you back into the waking world. While you are about to leave your body for the first time, you will be in a state of deep relaxation and the beginning stages of complete detachment. This almost always comes along with certain physical sensations, as your astral body is leaving your physical one. Speak to any seasoned astral traveller, and they will probably recount the same types of sensations; a tingling in their limbs and extremities, an awareness of blood rushing into and around certain parts of the body, and pressure in the forehead and temples are all commonly spoken of. Alongside this, there are slighter stranger sensations, including the feeling of falling from a great height, or the sensation that your body is growing extremely stiff and rigid. All of these things are perfectly normal physical reactions which come about just prior to your astral body leaving your physical one, and should you encounter them, use them not as a source of discomfort, but as a signifier that things are going along as they should, that your preparations have been successful and you are about to achieve your goal. The important thing is to remain focused on continuing with the astral projection, and not to feel startled by any unusual physical sensations that you might have – these are totally normal. Furthermore, directing your attention towards these feelings will inhibit you from entering the astral plane, as you will be knowingly maintaining some attachment to the material world and your physical body. Laying the groundwork for astral projection is an intensive process, which requires a lot of practice and patience. However, the experience of astral projection is guaranteed to be unlike anything you’ve ever encountered in the physical realm, and extremely rewarding. Imagine yourself soaring over vast valleys, floating through outer space, or plunging to the depths of the ocean – all of these marvels are possible via astral travel. All you need to do is take some time to prepare yourself for your astral journey, and not allow frustration and discomfort to get in the way of your goal. Ready for your first out of body experience? Find out by signing up for Steve G. As we become more technologically advanced and surround ourselves with tools and methods which are supposed to make life more simple and relaxing, we find ourselves ever more disconnected with what it is that makes us special, and makes us human. In today’s modern society, a sizeable percentage of the population is suffering from depression, or feels overworked and underpaid. We as a species are suffering from frustration – how have we seemingly come so far yet find ourselves so dissatisfied with what surrounds us? These symptoms are plain to see, and they don’t appear to be getting better. Never before has mankind felt such a massively strong attachment to the material world, or material possessions, and it is quickly driving us into a dark age where we wake each day to complete monotonous tasks for small amounts of money, with which to buy goods to distract us for a while. With all of this in mind, it comes as no surprise that a sizeable amount of the population, and many people we all meet day to day are looking for some sort of solution, some sort of escape or respite from this material world and shallow surroundings which we have been led to believe is the sum of our existence. It is no coincidence that more and more people are turning to older wisdoms and older truths as a way of releasing themselves from the monotony of this plane, and looking back to a time when mankind had a deeper, spiritual connection with themselves and their surroundings. Practices such as yoga and meditation have seen a huge surge in popularity over the past decade, and there can be no reason for this other than the fact that normal people are seeking a way to discover other aspects of their lives.
All Your Questions Answered

One of the practices, which is quickly gaining worldwide recognition and is once again providing people with the answers they seek and the relief from the material world that they so desperately require is astral projection. Astral projection is, quite simply, the phenomenon which allows an individual to escape from the confines of their tangible form and become free and limitless in an entirely different, perfect realm known as the astral plane. This plane of existence has been referred to by some of humanity’s greatest minds as a reality; thinkers such as Plato and Aristotle both spoke of the astral body and astral realm as a real place, where all of the restrictions and imperfections of the material world are removed and replaced by versions which are incorruptible and everlasting. In Indian religious writings, the astral realm is considered a reality, and somewhere we should all strive to spend time in. Indeed, the practices of yoga and meditation are based in the belief that we should spend a certain amount of time each day recognizing that the material body and the material world are imperfect, illusory copies of something far more profound and beautiful, that we are simply passing through this physical realm on our way back to the astral one.

Modern thinkers and practitioners of astral projection take these beliefs as a foundation, and recognize that astral projection allows us all to gain a higher sense of realization regarding our reality and our existence. Indeed, astral travellers can, through willpower and concentration, leave behind all of the restrictions and limits we face in the material world, and be freed from even very basic limitations we have grown to take for granted, such as the force of gravity. The astral body floats freely, and can travel through space and time at will, visiting people, beings, situations and unimaginable circumstances in a sense of deep calm and tranquility. During an astral projection, your reality revolves around nothing but your spiritual essence, the perfect, everlasting and incorruptible part of yourself, which is completely removed from any worldly pain or suffering. As such, astral projection is a perfect, free and beautiful way of experiencing unbounded happiness, mental clarity and experiencing for yourself the unbounded nature of life in the presence of cosmic power. Ask any astral traveller, and they will tell you that this practice allows them to uncover the secrets of their life, find their real place in this universe and recognize that any problems they face in the material world are merely illusion, and important only as a sign that there is much, much more to see and discover.

Travel Beyond

If you are new to the world and practices of astral projection, the chances are that you too are seeking to experience the level of freedom and boundless joy that can come about through these methods. And who could blame you? We as a species are growing weary of the increasing monotony of this material world, obsessed with materialistic things and materialistic aspirations. We all have a deep and profound need to uncover the mysteries of life and existence, and through astral projection, we have a free and enjoyable opportunity to do so. However, in order to access the myriad benefits of astral projection, you must first learn how to engage in this form of metaphysical travel. Our deep attachment to the material world is a barrier we must learn to overcome, and train ourselves to let go of, but this doesn’t necessarily come easily. From birth we are taught to aspire to succeed materially, we are trained slowly but surely to believe in what we perceive with our physical senses. As such, we develop a connection with what physically surrounds us, and we begin to deny the existence of the doubt that resides inside of us – the doubt that there is more to life than the physical world.

Out of body experiences and astral projection do occur naturally, in times of great distress or through deep dreaming, but rarely do they occur naturally in other circumstances or in times when we have full awareness or control of what is occurring. Nonetheless, there are proven, tried and tested techniques which can help us leave our physical bodies, and once you have acquired the know-how of astral projection, and have experimented with a range of techniques in order to find the most natural and comfortable one for yourself, you can gain the proper information with which you can control your admittance into and exploration of the astral world, and visit, enjoy and learn from it whenever you please, or whenever you need it the most.

The majority of astral projection techniques you will read about and have recommended to you as a beginner rely on lucid dreaming. This is a relatively simple and comfortable way to induce a state of deep relaxation and consciousness that is conducive to astral projection, and which can act as a gateway to other techniques and practices. Astral projection is a practice which undoubtedly becomes easier over time, as the barriers between the material world and the astral realm gradually begin to seem less solid and tangible after you have spent some time exploring, entering and re-entering the astral plane. Through lucid dreaming, you can recognize that the reality you are experiencing, the sights you see and sensations you feel are not of the material world, but of dreams. When we experience lucid dreaming, we can control what we do, see, where we go and what happens in our dreams – an experience which can be deeply profound and act as a genuine respite from the material world we wake into. Lucid dreams do occur naturally during regular sleep, indeed, many of us have at some point found ourselves having a lucid dream without ever trying to. As such, astral projection techniques generally rely on lucid dreaming as an introduction, as it is a simple and easy way to access the subconscious and unlock further potential for astral travel.

The following astral projection techniques can be used by anybody who is ready and willing to experience the wonders that can arise through astral projection, and who have a real desire to explore the astral realm. These techniques rely on your ability to access your subconscious mind through your dreams and through your energy. However, there are dozens of tried and tested techniques that work equally well for different people. If you feel as though you are not making progress through the techniques listed below, please do not allow yourself to become frustrated and give up on your adventures in astral projection. We are all different, and our minds and subconscious minds are all constructed differently depending on many different factors. As such, whilst one technique may work perfectly for one person and yield astonishing and fast results, it may not have the same outcome for another. It is highly recommended that you keep your eventual goal in sight, and employ several different techniques, even combining more than one, in order to eventually astral project. By becoming frustrated, you can create a psychic blockage and a mass of negative energy in one or more of your chakras. This can greatly impede your ability to let go of your physical body and astral project, creating a cycle of frustration and failure to escape. As such, positive thinking, determination and patience are key, and will yield the most positive and astounding results.

Wake-Induced Lucid Dreaming (WILD):

This technique involves stepping into the dream state with full conscious awareness. It is easiest to apply the WILD technique following four to seven hours of undisturbed sleep; depending on how much sleep you usually get, at this point you’ve slept sufficiently to return to your normal waking state, but you’ve had less sleep than usual. If you can program your subconscious to wake you up 2-3 hours prior to the time you usually get up, which is ideal, but if you can’t, then you may try setting an alarm. When you wake up, you can go through the steps of astral projection as outlined in the astral projection guide. Because your body has had less sleep than usual, you can easily slip back into the dream state with an awareness to initiate a lucid dream.

Mnemonic-Induced Lucid Dreaming (MILD):

Similar to the WILD technique, the MILD technique relies on lucid dreams. The subtle difference is that in this case, you train yourself to remember that you are dreaming. You can remain sleeping while using this technique. As you sleep and experience a dream, you’ll have trained yourself to identify what is happening and move forward from that point. Training yourself to do so involves thinking about your dreams while you are conscious. Try placing your conscious self in a dream you’ve had recently. You can also repeat an affirmation to remember you are dreaming the next time it happens. The key to identifying the dream state lies in very subtle clues that you can teach yourself to notice. Once you enter the lucid dream state, which is similar to self-hypnosis, you can move forward with astral projection.

If you’re ready to apply what you’ve learned about astral projection, these well recognized astral projection techniques could be used to initiate your first genuine and profound out-of-body experience. The most important thing to remember as you try to astral project is that your experience with astral projection will be unique; you needn’t and mustn’t compare yourself to others who are also learning to astral project. Just as some people are able to come by learning to play a musical instrument or certain sports naturally, there are those that are able to astral project easily, even on their first try. You needn’t worry if you have to try and try again; the process of learning how to astral project requires time and patience for many people. If you’re having repeated difficulties trying a few different techniques is the best way to move forward. Remember, there is nobody on earth who is incapable of astral projection or who isn’t in possession of an astral body, so retain your focus, stay positive and allow the experience to come to you.
